Data Licence

Our data licence forms part two of three key things that you need to know when using abitat ops.

This licence explains how you may use data available through the platform, and how we handle the data you put into it.

Data Sources

abitat ops draws on the statutory BNG metric and its trading rules, along with public and third-party datasets, to calculate units and check what you can legally trade.

Data You Provide

When you use abitat ops you upload information - your site metrics, the developer metrics you quote against, and the reservations and plans you build from them. You keep ownership of that data.

By uploading it, you grant abitat a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to:

• store, process, and analyse the data in order to operate the service for you

• calculate stock, units, availability, and trading-rule outcomes from it

• keep the records the service depends on, including the immutable ledger of your stock movements

You confirm that you have the right to share the data with us and to grant this licence.

We store uploaded data securely and only use it in line with our Privacy Policy.

Your commercial data stays yours

Your stock, reservations, plans, and pipeline are commercially confidential to you, and we treat them that way.

• We keep each operator’s data separate and private. Other operators cannot see it, even when they’re competing for the same deal.

• We do not fold your stock, reservations, plans, or pipeline into the aggregated market-intelligence datasets, statistics, or insights we produce or sell through abitat intel or any other product.

• We use your data to run abitat ops for you, to keep the service working, and to support you - not to inform anyone else’s trading.

If we ever want to use your data in a way that goes beyond running the service for you - for example anything that would feed it into a shared or saleable dataset - we’ll ask you first.

The metric you download

abitat ops can produce a populated statutory metric for you to use in a deal. The template owns every formula; we only fill in the input cells.

The download is a working aid. It’s your responsibility to check it, and we can’t guarantee that any regulator, planning authority, or the statutory register will accept it. Verify important figures against the statutory metric before you rely on the file or pass it on.

Licence to Use the Data

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive licence to access and use the data and outputs available through the platform for your internal business purposes - running your habitat bank.

This licence allows you to:

• view and analyse your stock, plans, and the calculations the service produces

• use the populated metrics and figures in your own deals

• include excerpts in your own reports or correspondence

Things You Cannot Do

You may not:

• try to reverse engineer the system in any way

• train new AI models using our datasets, other than data you have uploaded yourself

Derived Insights

You are free to use insights or conclusions you develop from your own data and the service’s outputs.

However, the compiled datasets, platform structure, and analytical machinery provided by the platform remain our intellectual property.

Changes to Data

Datasets and the BNG metric rules change over time as source data and the statutory metric are updated. Figures can move as a result.

We do not guarantee that the data will always be complete, accurate, or up to date.
